Exercise Tolerance Testing (ETT)

An ETT looks at the electrical activity of the heart during exercise. It involves walking on a treadmill with electrodes on the chest to produce an ECG.  The treadmill becomes more difficult over time with most people managing 9 – 12 mins.  Any symptoms reported will be analysed with the ECG to determine whether there are any narrowings of the arteries which feed the heart.
